Title: Application of Spinal Anesthesia with Bupivacaine or Ropivacaine in the Geriatrics
Abstract: Objective:To compare bupirvacaine with ropivacaine used for spinal anesthesia in the elderly undergoing transurethral resection of the low extremity operation. Methods:Sixty geriatric patients were divided into three groups with 20 cases each. Bupivacaine 12mg was use in group Ⅰ,ropivacain 12mg in group Ⅱ,and ropivacaine 15mg in group Ⅲ. The anesthetic effects on sensory and motor blckade, incidence of hypotension and bradycardia, quality of intraoperative analgesia and occurrence of neurological complications within 48 hours postoperatirely were compared. Results:The duration of sensory and motor blockade in group Ⅱ was shorter than that in group Ⅰ and group Ⅲ. The intensity motor blockade evaluated with bromage scale in group Ⅱ was lower than that in group Ⅰ and group Ⅲ. No obvious neurologival complications found in three groups. Conclusion:Spinal anesthesia with either ropivacaine 15mg or bupivacaine 12mg is safe and sufficient in elderly undergoing low extremity operation.
