Title: Relationship of VEGF,VEGFR-2 and MVD expressions in adrenal cortical carcinoma
Abstract: Objective To investigate the expressions of VEGF,VEGFR-2 and microvessel density(MVD)in adrenal cortical carcinoma(ACC)as well as to discuss the clinical significance. Methods 37 adrenal cortical neoplasm specimens resected from patients were examined by immunohistochemistry for the expressions of VEGF,VEGFR-2 and MVD.The patients were divided into two groups(20 benign cases and 17 malignant cases). Results VEGFR-2 expressed highly in the ACC group(76.47%)and lowly in the benign group(25.00%),with significant difference(P0.05).VEGF expressed highly in the ACC group(70.59%)and lowly in the benign group(25.00%),with significant difference(P0.05).MVD expressed highly in the ACC group(76.40±15.64)and lowly in the benign group(21.05±8.07),with significant difference(P0.05).Conclusions The high expression of VEGF and VEGFR-2 in ACC contributed to tumor angiogenesis, which provided the theoretical evidence for anti-angiogenesis regime in ACC.
