Abstract: In the contemporary literary works on Japan by the Chinese writers living there, the are often depicted as negative, as contrasted with that of the landscape. This inclination has resulted from both historical and present causes, but does not seem to affect the writers' love for the Japanese sceneries and economic prosperity. Meanwhile, they seem to have developed a more liberal view of the Chinese and Japanese cultures.
