Title: Study and Implementation of Simulation Model for Fair Queuing in High-speed Routers
Abstract: To improve transmission performance, people always use technologies based on fixedlength cell switching in current highspeed routers/switches. This paper mainly studies and models WFQ(Weighted Fair Queuing) based on fixedlength cell queuing. The components of the model are described in detail. With taking advantage of fixedlength characteristic of cell, we implement this model by way of fixedincrement time advance. Lastly, the paper compares performance of FIFO(First In First Out) and WFQ by bandwidth fairness. In a result, WFQ based on cell queuing is suitable for highspeed routers/switches.
