Considering the interaction between heat field and stress field, the variation of the relevant material parameters with temperature variation and the wheel-rail contact problem, the direct heat-structure coupling of the wheel-rail temperature field and stress field is analyzed when the locked wheels are sliding at a certain speed. The analysis results indicate that the area of the contact patch of the worn tread wheel is bigger than the one of the contact patch of the conical tread wheel, and the contact patch shape of the former is close to circle, while the contact patch shape of the latter is slender ellipse;the variation of material parameters with the temperature variation has a great effect on the temperature field and stress field and so it cannot be ignored;the temperature field has a great effect on the stress field and the temperature have the same rise tendency with the stress;the thermal damage on the wheels and rail generated by the worn tread is smaller than the conical tread.Read More
