Title: Advances and development trend in the study of the stratigraphic correlation of the Neoproterozoic and megafossils on the eastern margin of the North China platform.
Abstract: There exist many disputes and problems about the stratigraphic division and correlation of the Neoproterozoic on the eastern margin of the North China platform although great advances have been made in the study by using the multiple stratigraphic method. In the future, the study should be conducted in the following aspects: ① look for the stratigraphic marks of the tectono-thermal event and glacial event of the Neoproterozoic Rodinia supercontinent and determine their location in the stratigraphic column and their corresponding relations with the stages of megafossil evolution; ② in combination with the C,O and Sr isotope stratigraphic study, look for and identify volcanic rocks and pyroclastic rocks in the Neoproterozoic, determine their zircon U-Pb ages and solve the problem of the chronostratigraphic correlation with the Neoproterozoic strata of South China; and ③ distinguish between the Liaonan and Huainan biota, make clear the evolutionary courses of these biotas, further discuss their phylogeny and relation with the late Neoproterozoic biota of South China and improve the scheme of the biostratigraphic division and correlation of the Neoproterozoic on the eastern margin of the North China platform.
