Abstract: Departing from the modern Japanese scholar, Kusumoto Masatsugu's view, the paper makes a systematical analysis on SHAO Yong's ideas on I Ching , pointing out that SHAO Yong deduced his view of history from his outlook of the universe, attempting to reduce the generation of the universe, all things' existence as well as the vicissitudes of history to abstract numbers, thus, on one hand, he could not help getting bogged down in empty deduction breaking away from the facts, on the other hand, he added the contents emphasizing Yi's philosophical connotations to guide people. Therefore, his ideas on I Ching set up a bridge between ancient numbers' deduction and the Ideas' school (of Confucianism) of the Song and Ming dynasties.
