Title: Clinical observation of the phacoemulsification in the treatment of angle-closure glaucoma combine with cataract
Abstract: Objective To observe the curative effect of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation in the treatment of angle-closure glaucoma with cataract. Methods Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation was performed on 40 eyes of 36 angle-closure glaucoma with cataract patients received in our hospital from January 2009 to January 2011.The change of intraocular pressure, vision, and chamber angle between preoperation and postoperation were observed. Results The intraocular pressure after surgery was much more lowered than that controlled by drugs [(12.62±4.23) mm Hg vs(24.83±8.62) mm Hg].The difference was statistically significant(P 0.01).The anterior chamber depth increased and the chamber angle broadened. The vision were improved to varying degrees. Conclusion Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation can efficiently reduce intraocular pressure and can be treated as one of the effective methods of curing angle-closure glaucomawith cataract with double function of reducing intraocular pressure and improving eyesight.
