Title: Curative Effect of TACE with PEI on Hypovascular Liver Tumors
Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) combined with percutaneous ethanol injection(PEI) in treating hypovascular liver tumors. Methods All 50 patients with hypovascular liver tumors confirmed by liver biopsy, contrast enhancement CT scanning and DSA were divided into two groups: the combination treatment group(25 cases) was treated with TACE and PEI,while the control group(25 cases) only with TACE.The rates of effectiveness, the rates of negative AFP and the 1-year and 2-year survival rates of both groups were compared. Results The rates of effectiveness was 88% in the combined treatment group and 52% in the control group; The rates of negative AFP were 84% in the combined treatment group and 48% in the control group; The 1-year and 2-year survival rates were 92% and 68% in the combined treatment group, and 68% and 32% in the control group, respectively. The difference in all indexes was conspicuously significant between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion The combination treatment with TACE and PEI is safe, cheap and more effective for the hypovascular liver cancer especially when the diameter of tumor is smaller than 3cm,and can improve the long-term surviva1 rate of patients.
