Title: Conformal Radiotherapy for Esophageal Carcinoma in High-aged Patients
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the treatment efficacy and compalications of Conformal radiotherapy for esophageal carcinoma in high-aged patients.Methods 37 cases of high-aged patients of esophageal carcinoma without surgery were given conformal radiotherapy.The radiation dose was 1.8-2Gy/ Fraction/day,5 days / week,and total dose to the tumor added up to 60-66Gy/30-37 fractions,with 3-9 coplanar stationary beams.Results The check of the patients' X-ray film and CT images at 1-6 month after the treatment showed that the recent local control rate was 97.3%(36/37).One,two,there,four and five year survival rates were 79.38%、66.76%、49.73%、33.51% and 24.41%,respectively.Conclusion conformal radiotherapy showed better efficacy and lower complications in treating esophageal carcinoma,and is a good option for high-aged patients without surgery.
