Title: pathological analysis and clinical treatment of lung metastastic tumor from benign uterine leiomyoma
Abstract: Objective:To report two cases of benign metastasizing leiomyoma(BML). Methods:To investigate clinical histopathologie and immunohistologic features of BML,discuss the diagnosis and treatment. Results:One case was a forty-two years old female. She was found to have bilateral lung nodules after hysterectomy of uterine leiomyoma five years ago.Another case was a forty-five years old female. She was found to have bilateral lung nodules after hysterectomy of uterine leiomyoma four years ago.An open lung biopsy revealed that the nodules consist of proliferating smooth muscle cells with a histopathologic feature which was similar to her uterus leimyoma.Positive staining of estrogen and progesterone receptors were detected in both uterus leiomyoma and metastasizing lesions. No significant increase or enlargement of the lung nodules were found three years after the operation with no therapy except taking Chinese traditional medicine.Another was not treated after operation. Conclusion:BML is a rare entity usually occuring in females with history of uterus leiomyoma. It appears as a histopathologic benign smooth muscle tumors, distant from the uterus. It is hormone dependent and progresses slowly.Operation is the main clinical treatment.
