Title: Research on Antibacterial Activity of Extract from Loquat Fruit Residue
Abstract: The antibacterial activity of extract from loquat fruit residue was studied in this paper. The 95% Ethanol extract of loquat fruit residue was sequentially extracted with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate,n-butyl alcohol and water.Antibacterial activity and minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC)of the four different extract against Staphylococlus aureus,Escherichia coli,Bacillus subitlis and Saccaromyces cerevisiae were studied with filter paper method. The results showed that each of the four extract had different antibacterial activity:Ethyl acetate extract was the strongest one;l-butanol extract took second place;and petroleum ether extract was the third;water extract had no obvious antibacterial activity. Moreover, the MIC of the ethyl acetate extract which had the strongest antibacterial activity respectively was 3.125,6.25,and 3.125mg/ Ml-1 against Staphylococlus aureus,Escherichia coli and Bacillus subitlis.
