Title: Evaluation on Efficacy and Safety of Candesartan Ciexetil in Treatment of Mild-to-Moderate Essential Hypertension
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of domestic produced candesartan cilexetil in patients with mild-to-moderate essential hypertension. Methods Eighty patients were randomly assigned to receive candesartan cilexetil(4mg/d)or valsartan(80mg/d). The dosages were titrated to double the doses when DBP was sustained≥90mmHg or the magnitude of reduction was less than 10mmHg. Results Systolic blood pressure (SBP)/diastolic blood pressure(DBP) decreased significantly from(158.1+12.1)/(98.0±5.9)mmHg to (141.2±10.9)/(86.6±6.2)mmHg in candesartan cilexetil group and from (159.8±13.4)/(100.1±5.0)mmHg to(144.1±11.6)/(86.7±5.5)mmHg in valsartan group. The responsive rate was 85.0% in candesartan cilexetil group, and 87.2% in valsartan group. No change in heart rate was found. Adverse reactions were non-significant. Conclusion Domestic produced candesartan ciexetil is effective and well tolerated in patients with mild-to-moderate essential hypertension, and without significant adverse reaction.
