Abstract: From the Yuan Dynasty to the Early Qing Dynasty, Han nationality and Tujia nationality interacted frequently, which strengthened the cultural identification, forged strong ties between the two nationalities, promoting the economic and cultural development of Tujia nationality. Cultural interaction between the two nationalities strengthened the contact between Tujia areas and Han areas and enhanced the unitary multinational state. Strengthening the cultural identification determined to a certain degree when and how the movement of bringing aboriginal chieftains under the jurisdiction of the central government was carried out.
