Title: Study of model test on performance of soil foundation reinforced by geogrids
Abstract: As a key step for analyzing interaction between soil and geogrid and for defining parameters used in analysis and calculation as well as engineering design,the rational evaluation of the ultimate bearing capacity of soil foundation reinforced by geogrids is of practical significance.The properties of sand ground reinforced with geogrid were studied through model test.The results show that the ultimate bearing capacity can be increased 10%-40% and the lateral displacement and vertical settlement can be decreased 20%-50% and 30%-50% respectively,if the sand foundation is reinforced by geogrid.For the strip shallow foundation,the best reinforced geogrid layers are 2-3 layers and the best length of reinforced geogrid is 3 times of the width of the foundation.
