Title: Efficacy Observation of Senile Primary Nephrotic Syndrome Treated with Tripterygium Glycosides and Prednisone of Median Dose
Abstract: Objective To explore the effectiveness and safety on senile primary nephrotic syndrome treated with tripterygium glycosides and prednisone of median dose. Methods Sixty-four patients of senile primary nephrotic syndrome were randomized into two groups. In the control group, beside the basic treatment of nephrotic syndrome, prednisone of regular dose was supplemented. In the treatment group, tripterygium glycosides and prednisone of median dose were added. The levels of 24 h urine protein, plasma albumin and serum creatinine before and after treatment,as well as the adverse reactions were compared in the patients of two groups. Results In 12 months of treatment, the complete release rate and the total release rate were 59. 38% and 84. 38% in the treatment group, which were higher than 37. 50% and 62. 50% in the control group separately, indicating the significant difference( P 0. 05). The level of 24 h urine protein was reduced apparently and that of plasma albumin was increased obviously after treatment in the patients of the two groups as compared with those before treatment, indicating the significant difference( P 0. 05). The results in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group( P 0. 05). The difference in the adverse reaction was not significant between the two groups( P 0. 05). Conclusion The combined medication of tripterygium glycosides and prednisone of median dose achieves the definite efficacy on senile primary nephrotic syndrome and it is the safe and effective therapeutic program, which does not increase the incidence of adverse reaction.
