Title: Intravenous flurbiprofen axeyil injection combined with small dose of fentanyl for postoperative analgesia
Abstract: Objective To compare postoperative analgesic efficacy and complications between intravenous flurbiprofen axeyil injection combined with a small, dose of fentanyl and fentanyl alone. Methods Forty-eight patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty were randomly divided into four groups with 12 cases in each group.Fen- tanyl 1 mg was used in group A,Fentanyl 0.5 mg was used in group B,Flurbiprofen axeyil injection 50 mg plus fen- tanyl 0.5 mg was used in group C,and Flurbiprofen axeyil injection 100 mg plus fentanyl 0.375 mg was used in group D.The drugs in each group were diluted to 100 ml with 0.9% sodium chloride and infused by a pump at a rate of 2 mL/h with a patient-controlled bolus of 2 ml after a loading dose of 5 ml.The visual analog scale(VAS), times of patient-control analgesia(PCA)and incidence of side effects were recorded during the period 24 hours after operation. Results Two hours after operation the VAS of group B was significantly higher than those of group A, C and D(all P0.05),which became similar in all the 4 groups after another 2 h(all P0.05).The demanding times for supplemental bolus in the group B(13.3±1.4)were significantly higher than those in the group A (6.6±1.4),C(7.1±1.3)and D(6.9±1.4,all P0.05).The incidences of nausea, vomiting, itching, and somnolence in group A,C and D were significantly less than those in group B(all P0.05).No respiratory dep- ression or abnormal bleeding occurred in the four groups. Conclusion Intravenous postoperative analgesia with flurbiprofen axeyil injection combined with small dose of fentanyl has a better analgesic effect than fentanyl alone; the new strategy can reduce fentanyl usage and its side effects.(Shanghai Med J,2007,30:606-608)
