Title: Social Changes & Academic Schools: A Comprehensive Study on Contemporary British Marxist Historiographical Origins
Abstract: British Marxist historiographic school is a very important school of international historiography in the 20th century. The essay mainly explores the clear and logical development of the academic origin of British Marxist historiographic school represented by Hobsbawm and Thompson from the overall framework of the relationship between social changes and academic schools. Starting from the discussion of historical conditions for the school coming into being and the background of world trend of thought, the article expounds the interaction or excitation mechanism between Western new historiography and Marxist historiography, which was the important academic premise for the emergence and development of the British Marxist historiographic school. The important social environmental influence on the British Marxist historiography exerted by the theory and approach of British traditional history has also been underlined in this thesis.
