Title: Microwave Remote Sensing in Geosynchronous Orbit
Abstract: Benefiting from the capability of all-time and all-day observation, microwave remote sensing has become a significant and widely used method for atmospheric sounding and earth observing. When compared with sun- synchronous orbit observation, the microwave remote sensing in geostationary orbit( GEO) has notable features of high time resolution and wide coverage,so it has attracted plenty of attention both in scientific and industrial areas. In addition, using GEO microwave remote sensing has obvious advantages in fields of high resolution reconnaissance,medium- term meteorological / oceanographic forecast, and monitoring after major natural disaster. The scientific requirements and development status of geostationary microwave radiometer, geostationary precipitation radar and geostationary synthetic aperture radar are illustrated in this paper. Then, the related key technologies and corresponding solutions are investigated. Finally, the suggestion for future development is proposed.
