Title: On the Educational Value of Humanistic Psychology
Abstract: Education needs to be kept away from snobbishness instead of what people really are.It also needs to attach importance to how to cultivate persons,which means to help them experience their strength as well as happiness in spirit.It advocates to establish a new people-centered educational system.The theory of educational targets is the core value of humanistic psychology,which emphasizes that the ultimate goal of education is to get the self-fulfillment as well as to develop the potential abilities.However,the one-sided emphasis on the motivation of study may lose touch with society.The theory of internal learning and meaningful learning has opened up the forming of study theory,which highlights the role of students in learning.The idea of student-centered denies the traditional teacher-centered method.It shows great concern for students' initiative,awareness,emotion,as such kind of psychological factors.But,at the same time,it is against the process of learning knowledge and skills systematically,as well as forgets the teachers' leading role.It may tend to the non-rational education.The value of Humanistic Psychology promotes the reforms of education in the west and provides the philosophy and psychology consideration to the establishment of educational value today.
