Title: Spatial variation of plant biomass and soil chemical element contents induced by Caragana microphylla
Abstract: Caragana microphylla is a leguminous shrub wildly distributed in typical steppe of Inner Mongolia. It has significant impact on soil properties and plant distribution. In this study, we investigated variation of plant biomass, composition, element content in Leymus chinensis , soil macro and micro nutrient contents induced by Caragana microphylla shrub in a degraded typical steppe of Inner Mongolia fenced for 8 years. Results indicated that Caragana microphylla shrub induced variations of plant biomass, plant composition and soil chemical element contents. The effects benefit the recovery of degraded grassland. The ecological significance of Caragana microphylla in typical steppe is discussed in this paper.
