Abstract: The paper holds that in his novel “Scholars” Wu Jingzi explored the intellecturals personality at his time:being agonized for the loss of the traditional Confucianists personality,seeking to analyse the present status of the intellecturals personality,According to Wu there were two major kinds of personality in his time when Eight Part Essay was predominant:one was self atrophy,the other was self actualization.Wus reflection proved that the former had become a commonly aecepted personality and was having a heavy impact on the mass intellecturals,while the latter represented an ideal to rebuild the confucianists personality.
