Title: Effects of Sulfatide on the Airway Inflammation and Expression of IL-10 in a Murine Model of Asthma
Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effects of sulfatide on the airway inflammation and IL-10 in a murine model of asthma, and to elucidate the possible mechanism of sulfatide in the treatment of asthma. Methods: Twenty-six mice were randomly divided into the normal control group (group A), asthmatic group (Group B) and sulfatide-treated asthmatic group (Group C). The lung tissue was obtained and pathologic analysis was done by HE staining. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the expression of IL-10 mRNA in the lung tissue. The concentration of IL-10 in the serum was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: Compared with group B, less infiltration inflammatory cells in lung tissues was observed in group C. The expression of IL-10 both in the lung tissue and the serum of group B and group C were lower than that of group A respectively (both P0.01). After the treatment of sulfatide, the expression of IL-10 both in the lung and the serum were higher as compared with group B (P0.01 and P0.05 respectively). Conclusion: ① The expression of IL-10 is decreased in asthma; ②sulfatide could suppress airway inflammation of asthmatic animal model, probably by enhancing the secretion of IL-10.
