Title: Application of thymidine phorylase test in tailoredua chemotherapy in the patients with breast cancer
Abstract: Objective:To investigate the correlation between thymidine phosphrylase(TP) expression and response to chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer. Methods: From March 2003 to February 2005,85 cases of operable primary breast cancer patients had received chemotherapy with ctx+xeloda regimen for 3 cycles.Clinic effect was evalauated and operation was performed after chemotherapy.Specimen were examined by TP test,to investigate the correlation between TP expression and response to chemotherapy. Results: Sixty four cases were TP positive, chemotherapy effectivre rate was 71.78%;21 cases TP negative, chemotherapy effective rate was 28.75%(P0.01).Conclusion: The expression of TP can be an important marker in selecting chemotherapy regimen and predicting the efficacy of chemotherapy for breast cancer patients.
