Title: Preparation, Characterization and Mechanism of Cationic-Nonionic Montmorillonites
Abstract: C a-montomrillonite was intercalation modified with cationic surfactant hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide(CTAB) and nonionic surfactant alkylphenol ethoxylates(OP-10) in aqueous suspension. The performances of Ca-montomrillonite-CTAB-OP-10 samples were characterized by XRD, FTIR, SEM and TG. The mechanism of modification was discussed. The results show that CTAB and OP-10 can successfully intercalate into Ca-montomrillonite. The expansion degree of layer and modified effect of organic montmorillonite are better than those of Ca-montomrillonite-CTAB, and Ca-montomrillonite-CTAB-OP-10 samples exhibit better thermal stability. The order of adding surfactant has no effect on modification of Ca-montomrillonite.
