Title: The Objectivity of History: Reflections on the Post-myth Period
Abstract: This thesis focuses on the question of objectivity of historical research, which includes such factors as researcher, object, media, and methods of historical research. It is argued that the pure objectivity of history is a kind of myth. The objectivity of historical research is flexible and its range is relative. Sources, the researcher, and methods determine it, while the researcher is the most active and leading factor. In such context, historical research will reach some objectivity in a certain dimension if he keeps pursuing it. To criticize the myth of objectivity is to make better use of its reasonable content.
