Title: On Open Thinking in English Grammar Teaching
Abstract: This paper argues that open thinking is widely reflected in today's EFL/ESL grammar teaching. Firstly, many factors connected with learners are believed to play a role in evaluating the importance of grammar teaching. Secondly, the teaching attention is now paid not only to the written English grammar but also to the spoken English grammar. Thirdly, there is a tendency of combining grammar with meaning. The paper describes the above new thinking pattern in the English grammar teaching with three Fs, i.e. Flexibility-Factualism-Functionalism.
