Title: Exploration on the Differences of the Inclusion of Words with Variant Forms in the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary and the Standard Dictionary of Modern Chinese
Abstract: Both the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary and the Standard Dictionary of Modern Chinese abide by the rule of including the words with variant forms whether there is a national trial standard or not. However, they employ the different strategies in the word classification, the definition of the recommended form or non-recommended form of a certain word, the affirmation of their semantic relations as well as their marking forms. These differences mainly originate from their different principles of the inclusion of words with variant forms.Comparatively, the former mainly stresses being brief and systematic while the latter pays more attention to motivation and standardization.Their inclusion jobs of the words with variant forms have positively produced a lasting influence, which is helpful to the standardization of the contemporary Chinese vocabulary.
