Title: ANALYSIS OF PROVENANCE OF LATE PALEOZOIC IN THE NORTHERN ORDOS BASIN AND ITS GEOLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Abstract: Through analysis of the tectonic evolution, paleogeography, characteristics of the source rocks and the terrigenous clastic debris, the sedimentary provenance of the Northern Ordos basin was identified. In the Late Paleozoic period, the north and the sourth area of the Ordos basin were uplifted and the central area of the basin was depressed, indicating that the main sedimentary provenance of the Northern Ordos basin was from the Yingshan paleocontinent. The NNE distribution of the river-delta deposits in the Permian period showed that the terrigenous clastic debris was from the north paleocontinent. In the inner area and the north area of the Ordos basin, the main crystalline basement rocks belong to Archeozoic or Proterozoic era. The regional differentiation of the rock types and the distribution of basement rocks of the Northern Ordos basin were responsible for the east-west difference of the sandstone reservoir of the study area, and thus the distribution of the favourable sandstone reservoir was closely related with the sedimentary provenance.
