Title: Protective effect of Ulinastatin(UTI)on hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury in rats
Abstract: Objective To study the protective effect of Ulinastain(UTI)on hepatic ischemia and reperfusion injury. Methods Fourty-five healthy male SD rats were randomly devided into three groups,15 animals in each group.Group A served as sham-operation controls, and group B underwent 90 minutes of reperfusion after 30 minutes of ischemia in the liver.UTI was administered to animals in group C,which were reperfused 90 minutes after 30 minutes of ischemia in the liver.Plasma almine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotrans-ferase(AST),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)were measured in each group. The activity of myeloperoxidase(MPO)in liver tissue was also determined, and the hepatic tissue was examined under light and electronic microscopies. Results The levels of plasma ALT,AST,LDH,and content of MPO in the liver tissue in group C were significantly decrease, compared with group B(P0.01).The histologic changes of the liver tissue under light and electronic microscopies was more obvious in group B than in the group C.Conclusion UTI has the ability to inhibit the neutrophil's accumulation druing hepatic tissue ischemia-reperfusion,so protect ischemia-reperfusion injury in rat liver.
