Title: On Shi Zhecun's Psychology of Writing Historical Novels
Abstract: The 1930s witnessed the booming of historical novels. Great writers such as Lu Xun, Guo Moruo, Mao Dun, Zheng Zhenduo had all tried this field. Unlike them, Shi Zhecun's historical novels did not aim at “satirizing reality and calling for struggles”. Starting from his own interest, he detached himself from the purpose of literature serving realistic political struggles and studied with great concentration new ideas in arts. He analysed and exposed the inside world as well as the privacy of people of great historical importance by adopting Freud's pschoanalysis theory and Elis' sexual psychology. These new ideas and techniques are of highly pioneering significance in literary creation.
