Title: Clinical application of the free radial forearm flap to the functional reconstruction of tongue with defect from tongue cancer
Abstract: Objective To summarize the clinical application of the free radial forearm flap to the functional reconstruction of tongue with defect from tongue cancer.Methods From March 2000 to April 2003,26 patients with tongue cancer,who underwent glossectomy and primary functional tongue reconstruction with free radial forearm flap,were reviewed.Results All 26 free flaps survived well.Morphology and function of the tongue were both satisfactory.Conclusion Free radical forearm flap can be used to repair tongue defect after glossectomy with recovery of anatomical morphology and physiological function.
