Abstract: In view of maneuvering target tracking in cluttered environment, this paper reviews two existing gating techniques, namely, Model Based Gating (MBG) and Centralized Gating (CG). In addition, it proposes two new gating techniques, called Model Probability Weighted Gating (MPWG) and Two-Stage Model Probability Weighted Gating(TS-MPWG). These gating techniques are compared in terms of RMS errors, percentage of track loss and computational load. The simulation results suggest that: tracking maneuvering targets in cluttered environment with IMM-PDAF, gating via TS-MPWG is preferable to other methods.
