Title: Study on the effects of potash application on wheat-maize-sweet potato rotation cropping system in fixed upland
Abstract: Soil and Fertilizer Institute, SAAS and International Potash Institute conducted a cooperative study on the effect of potash application continuously on benefit, available potassium and chlorine in topsoil in wheat maize sweet potato rotation cropping system on fixed upland. This trial, started with maize in 1998,and terminated with wheat in 2001,studied nine stubble crops in three years. The result clearly showed that the effect of potash application on crop yield was significant. The available potassium and chlorine in topsoil increased slightly, the chlorine content was under harmful level to the soil. At the same time, the result also indicated that organic fertilizer was still a cheap, valuable potassium source.
