Title: Rail Corrugation at High Frequency Wheel/Rail Interaction
Abstract: The rail corrugation in the presence of high frequency wheel/rail interaction was investigated. Thus the receptance of the rail was introduced to establish a model to predict the rail corrugation, based on correlating the rail receptance with the fluctuation of the wheel/rail creepforce and with that of the amplitude of the running rail surface. The profile change of the rail surface due to wear was calculated making use of frictional power hypothesis and the corrugation rate of the rail obtained. It was found that the rail corrugation rate was closely related to the vertical dynamic behavior and different corrugation rates were observed at different locations of the rail in the presence of excitation source of different frequencies.
