Title: EAG Responses of Helicoverpa assulta Guenée to Several Plant Volatiles
Abstract: Electroantennograms(EAG) responses were recorded of virgin females and males of Helicoverpa assulta to five plant volatiles and seven volatile compounds from plants.The results showed that the volatiles from sunflower elicited the strongest EAG responses of female and male moths of tobacco budworm,suggesting the existence of bioactive substances in the volatiles.Virgin female and male moths revealed the highest EAG responses to benzaldehyde and 1-hexanol,the following is to β-phenylethanol and salicylaldehyde.And methyl salicyate,benzyl alcohol and eugenol elicited less EAG responses.
