Title: Structural Characterization and Application of Copolymer of Dimethyldiallylammonium Chloride and Acrylamide
Abstract: A new cationic copolymer was prepared by copolymerization of dimethyldiallylammonium chloride(DMDAAC) and acrylamide(AM) in the presence of ammonium persulfate(APS) as initiator. When the molar ratio of DMDAAC to AM was 2∶1,concentration of APS was 2 0×10 -2 mol/L and the mixture reacted at 60 ℃ for 3 h ,the yield of copolymer reached 96%.The result of analysis showed that the cationic degree of copolymer was 45%(mol) and the molecular weight was 4 7×10 6.The structure was confirmed by IR.The flocculation and dehydration actions of products was also determined.
