Title: Xylanase Pretreatment of Bleached Hardwood Kraft Pulp
Abstract: In this paper, we used the method of orthogonal experiments and single factor experiments, the effects of enzyme dosage, pH value, the pulp concentration and the time on pentosan content, α -cellulose content, whiteness, ash, the average degree of polymerization and the yield were mainly investigated after xylanase treatment of bleached kraft hardwood pulp, The experimental results showed that the optimum parameters of enzyme treatment process were as followed: enzyme dosage 9 U · g-1, pH 8.0, the pulp concentration of 7.0%, the reaction time of 60 min ﹒ The pulp properties under these optimum conditions were as followed : α -cellulose content of 90.06%, the degree of polymerization of 732, pentosan content of 7.01%, 85.45% ISO of whiteness, the ash content of 0.31%, the yield of 88.61%. In order to meet the standard required for dissolving pulp viscose fiber requirements, alkali treatment was used to treat the bleached kraft hardwood pulp under optimum conditions of xylanase pretreatment. With the increasing of alkali amount, α -cellulose content increased as well as the pentosan content , polymerization degree and ash content decreased, the pulp was able to meet the requirements of the staple dissolving pulp after xylanase treatment and alkali treatment processing.
