Title: Precipitation characteristics related to raindrop size distribution in laminated hybrid cloud
Abstract: The micro-structural characteristics of rain in Leizhou peninsula were studies, with the rain cloud being of a laminated mixed type. The data used were 295 samples of precipitation obtained on August 8-11,2007 from Zhanjiang and Suixi in Guangdong province. The correlation between radar reflectivity factor, water content and rainfall intensity was established. Then a curve fitting ofΓdistribution was made and the parameter changes with time were analyzed. The average spectrum of can be described as N=58 859.634 29D~(7.403805) exp(-4.816 26D).These results can be used as a test in comparison with the radar echo to determine the nature of precipitation and to estimate the quantity of precipitation. The raindrop size distribution in midair can also be calculated through the spectral features of ground to completely understand the whole process of precipitation.
