Title: Research on Surface Modification of Magnesium Hydroxide Flame Retardant and its Application to Polypropylene
Abstract: The effects of different contents of magnesium hydroxide flame retardant were studied, which were modified by silane and titanic acid ester coupling agent on flame retardant and mechanical properties of polypropylene composites. The results showed that after magnesium hydroxide modified by silane coupling agent,it could significantly improve both the mechanical properties and flame retardancy of PP composite materials. When the content of surface modified magnesium hydroxide was 65% (wt% ) ,the oxygen index of composite materials was 31.9% ,while its vertical combustion can be up to UL 94 V-0.
