Title: Four key issues in the transition of sports systems in China
Abstract: In these days when Beijing is speeding up its pace in preparation for the Olympic Games and sport departments are doing their best to get ready for the Olympic Games 2008,it is quite necessary to think ahead about the transition issues which sports systems in China will be confronted with inevitably.The author revealed the following findings: Competition in Olympic Games was an inadequate,incomplete and unequal competition;it would be conductive to the solid development of competitive sports in China to show attention on cost accounting and payment issues regarding athletes' performances,keep up the enthusiasm of nongovernmental investors on professional sports market,and provide sufficient space for development for high performance sports teams/athletes in colleges and universities;a solid foundation for sports in China would be built as governments at all levels ensured the provision of funds for mass sports,sports event management centers and associations made efforts to take care of mass sports,and professional sports clubs established and consummated their operating mechanism.The author pointed out that the key actions should be taken by national sports management departments to realize the transition of sports systems in China were the followings: Cancel the announcement of number of gold medals and total scores as well as position ranking ceremony in the closing ceremony of National Sports Games;vigorously strengthen the status of single event tournaments;support colleges and university to probe into the modes of development of competitive sports;perfect professional sports club management mechanism.
