Title: Platelet function in patients with carotid atherosclerosis
Abstract: Objective:To assay the changes of platelet function in patients with carotid atherosclerosis (CAS). Methods: By flow cytometry ,the expression of platelet membrane glycoprotein Ⅱ b-Ⅲ a complex α-subunit (CD41) ,P-selectin (CD62p) , lysosomes membrane protein 53 (CD63) and platelet-lymphocyte,monocyte,neutrophil aggregation were measured in 97 CAS patients and 43 age,sex-match control patients. Results:Compared to the control, the positive percentage of CD62p and CD63 were elevated in CAS group (P0. 05),the positive percentage and mean fluorescence intensity of CD41 on lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils had no significant change. Spearman correlation analysis confirmed there was no significant correlation between the expression of CD62p,CD63 and the degree of CAS. Logistic regression analysis revealed CD63 was an independent risk factor in CAS(P0. 05). Conclusion: There are changes of platelet function in CAS,and platelet activation plays a role in CAS.
