Title: A STUDY ON THE OVARIAN DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH TRAITS OF TWO COLOR POPULATIONS OF PROCAMBARUS CLARKII
Abstract: A study was carried out on the difference of physical signs and ovarian development between two color populations of Procambarus clarkii(the red carapace crayfish and the green carapace crayfish). It was compared that the gonad development and growth rate of Procambarus clarkii which were the same type and different color and the growth change of different types green ones under varying temperature. The result of the dissection showed that the green females were at stages I-III,while the red most were at II-III.In the progress of 30d feeding of larva prawn which were about 8g,the rate of weight gain of the red ones was only 67% of the green one.The ecdysis rate of the green was 40% more than the red and average ecdysis period of the green was 9d shorter, while the individuals which molted more grew faster than the less ones. The 10g green carapace crayfishes turn red after 30d feeding under(28±2)℃,while the same ones didn't change under(18±2)℃,but the growth would stop and the gonad would develop maturity in advance when it was higher than the optimum temperature and resulted in bad surrounding condition.
