Title: STUDY ON THE SYNTHESIS OF POLYACROLEIN FURAN-2-THIOACID HYDRAZONE CHELATING RESIN AND ITS ADSORPTION PROPERTIES
Abstract: A new polymer matrix, which is a macroporous copolymer resin of acrolein, styrene and divinylbenzene, was synthesized. By means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and surface test (ST), the topographies and the pore structures of the polymer resin beads were then characterized. From this polymer matrix a new chelating resin containing furan-2-thioacid hydrazone as functional group was further prepared through the reaction of furan-2-thioacid hydrazine chelating agent with the active aldehyde on the matrix. Its adsorption properties toward noble metal ions were investigated, showing that the said resin can selectively adsorb gold, palladium and platinum, whose exchange capacities are 1.2mmol/g, 0.37mmol/g, 0.28mmol/g dry resin respectively.
