The German-style education he accepted when he was studying in Japan exposed him to a lot of German literary works. His keen interest in German literature was thus cultivated. YU Da-fu had a high regard for German literature and he was especially fond of such German ideologists and writers as Nietzsche, Stirner and Storm.
