Title: Influence of nurse effect on the diversity of desert Reaumuria soongoricacommunity under arid environment in the Loess Plateau
Abstract: The desert plant Reaumuria soongorica is one of the peer plants in warm desert zone of northern China, which is excellent native species, but whether the plant possesses the nurse function is not well known. In this paper,R.soongorica community structure characteristic and distribution pattern were investigated, and influence of nurse effect on plant diversity were analyzed. In order to explore nursing effect mechanisms, and provide scientific basis for arid zone vegetation restoration, five gradient levels of plant cover of R.soongorica at arid zone of Gansu were studied. The results showed plant species diversity increases with the plant cover age and aboveground biomass of R.soongorica increase, and tends to be the highest when the biomass is to be 35.62g/m2(total cover 48.73%).Richness of target specieses of Suaeda glauca and Ajania achilleoides increase with the plant cover age and aboveground biomass increase, but plant species diversity has no obvious change. These results implied that nurse function of R.soongorica only displays while the plant coverage get to a certain extent. Thus we may utilize nurse effect to facilitate or accelerate success process, and controll the species diversity and community structure in arid areas with sparse vegetation and lower plant diversity.
