Title: Critical discourse analysis of reported speech in English news discourse from the perspective of intertextuality
Abstract: Intertextuality is an important feature of discourse. Any discourse is the result of absorption and transformation of the other discourses. Reported speech of a news discourse embodies the intertextuality of the discourse and it is often used to deliver the ideology of the news reporter. The Critical Discourse Analysis is targeted to non-literary discourses. The critical analysis of the reported speech is helpful to reveal the hidden intention of the news reporter behind the news discourse.
