Title: Protective effects of the extract of ginkgo biloba on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis
Abstract: Objective To investigate the protective effect of the extract of ginkgo biloba(EGB) on nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH) in rats. Methods Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups:normal group(N group, fed by normal diet),model group(M group, fed by high fat diet),and heal group [H group, fed by high fat diet and EGB 6 mg /(kg·d)].All rats were killed at the end of 12 weeks.Serum ALT,AST,HA,LN,PCⅢ,C-Ⅳ were detected,MDA,liver tissues were stained by HE and pathological grades were observed.SOD,MDA levels were measured. Results Compared with M group, hepatic damage of H group was significantly milder, liver function significantly improved.MDA level in liver decreased, while SOD increased.Serum levels of HA,LN,PCⅢ,C-Ⅳ as liver fibrosis markers decreased obviously(P 0.01).Conclusion EGB has the effects on inhibiting liver damage induced by NASH in rats.
