Abstract: In Sound and Fury,the representative work of stream of consciousness,people can find not only stream of consciousness writing but also realistic writing.And even among different parts of stream of consciousness writing,the author used it in different ways.The iconicity theory of cognitive linguistics will be helpful to explain these phenomena by discussing the iconic relationship between literary form and content.And it can be found that Faulkner used stream of consciousness is not for its own sake but to realize the natural melting between form and content.
