Title: Analysis of diabetes management in population-based patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the Shanghai downtown
Abstract: Objective To determine the status of diabetes management in the patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the Shanghai downtown.Methods 1039 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes aged over 30 were investigated by cluster sampling in the Shanghai downtown.Body mass measurements including height,weight,waist circumference and hip circumference,resting blood pressure and fasting blood measures were investigated.The status of diabetes management was evaluated according to the optimal control recommendations proposed by CDS in the diabetes patients.Results (1)18.1% of all the participants obtained the optimal fasting glycaemic control.The percentage of HbA1c6.5% among all the participants was 38.1%.(2)The percentage of systolic blood pressure 130 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure80 mmHg among all the participants was 24.7% and 29.5% respectively.Only 15.0% of all the participants obtained the optimal blood pressure control.(3)The percentage of serum cholesterol4.5 mmol/L among all the participants was 21.6%.The percentage of triglyceride1.5 mmol/L among all the participants was 44.7%.The percentage of HDL 1.1 mmol/L among all the participants was 61.6%.(4)Only 2.71% of all the participants obtained optimal glycemic,blood pressure,and serum lipid control(defined as HbA1c6.5%,blood pressure130/80 mmHg and LDL2.6 mmol/L).Conclusion Only 2.71% of all the participants obtained optimal glycemic,blood pressure and serum lipid control,and the patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes should be upgraded to more intensive therapy.
